Transit-Oriented Development: Exploring Citizen Perceptions in a Booming City, Can Tho City, Vietnam

Transit-oriented development (TOD) is a crucial method for sustainable urban and encouraging the use of public transit, especially large densely populated cities such as Can Tho City, one top five in Vietnam. This study aimed at identifying factors which have significant effect on citizens’ engagement transport TOD environment. Based literature review expert knowledge, 3 hypotheses related to perceptions citizen’s are developed. A questionnaire was accordingly established using structural equation modeling (SEM). As result, total 8 with 31 stems were obtained. The survey questionnaires distributed citizens City 749 responses collected KMO test Chi-square 0.905. analysis shows that all three stand: (1) perception local government’s capacity plays an important role willingness engage transport; usefulness (2) (3) has positive influence system. major contribution this it can help other developing countries apply TOD.
